Ana
over at 'A PETITE COTTAGE'
had a post about
a candle holder and a covered cheese platter.
This idea appealed to me
because I already had all of the components
to create this quick and easy craft.
I was having one of those days...
A day when some girl time was needed.
One of those days that I just wanted to go see Mom.
One of those days that I just wanted to spend time with Mom or my sister...
Someone who really knew me, who understands without words.
My sweet Mother went home to her ultimate healing
in Heaven
three years ago...
And I couldn't reach my sister.
And my sweet husband tried. He tried to listen and
take me out for coffee or go for a walk.
I explained to him that I just needed some 'girl time'
to which he responded, "I'll put on a wig"
trying to make me laugh...
So I reached for my vices.
Prayer
Then creativity.
Thank you, Ana for your lovely blog
and for giving me such a simple creative outlet for a day. :)
My little ones came home from school that day
to a lovely setting on the deck
complete with chocolate fudge brownies
stacked inside the little covered platter on a beautiful base.
It was another day to treasure those
that I do have around me.
Have a good weekend,
Beautiful and touching post Deborah~ Hugs, Rachel
ReplyDeleteDeborah, it turned out so pretty! I saw the same round platter today only cake size at a yard sale, since I have the cover I thought of getting it, but wasn't sure if my glass dome would fit. Now that I see what you did , I'm thinking I should have picked it up, not realizing I can simply paint it all white. I'm seriously wanting a pretty white cake plate/pedestal, I have three glass ones. But have my eye on an enamel one I saw in an online catalog. I know what you mean by girl time, it's been seven years for me, since my mom passed away, and I still wake up some mornings, and think to call her on the phone.
ReplyDeleteSO beautiful, I love this :) Your children are blessed to have you for a mommy!

What a wonderful Mother you must have had. I am so so sorry you had such a hard day. That was so sweet of your husband to say that about the wig and be so sweet. Sometimes girl time is the only thing that will work.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are feeling better.
Have a pretty day,
Kristin
Your husband sounds like a gem for offering to wear a wig for you, love that. Hope your having a good week. Nice to "meet" you.
